Welcome to Ellesmere Riding Centre!

Since 1966, our small family-run centre has been offering Spectacular Riding in the Heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park - come and experience it for yourself!

We are remaining fully open for half-day and full-day trekking and hacking rides for individual riders and small groups throughout the winter months.

** NEW for 2022**  BUILTH WELLS SHORT BREAK TRAIL RIDE
We are now pleased to offer 2 day / 2 night short break trail rides to Builth Wells for experienced riders.  Riding along forestry tracks and across open moorland, following the routes of the Welsh drovers, we spend the night in Builth Wells before returning. Further details will be available on the Short Trail Ride page. Dates of currently booked rides are available here. Extra dates can be available but please note these rides need a minimum of two riders to run.

All Covid restrictions have now been lifted in Wales, however we do ask that you please act responsibly. Whilst at Ellesmere stables, please maintain social distancing and make use of the hand sanitisers we have available to protect yourself and others.

Lake2Situated on the edge of Llangorse Lake, which nestles between the ruggedly remote Black Mountains and the grandeur of the Brecon Beacons, Ellesmere Riding Centre is a small and friendly stables with 20 well-schooled quality horses and ponies to choose from.

From our herd of  strong, fit Welsh cobs, and cob and thoroughbred crosses, we offer the ultimate riding experience for everyone through the outstanding scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park - from genteel pony treks for complete novices and families wanting to sightsee on horseback, to exclusive 5-day exploratory long-distance trail riding holidays for accomplished riders.

We are ideally situated less than an hour by road from Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, and with easy links to the M4 motorway and Abergavenny, the gateway to Wales, with its regular train service. For overseas travellers, there are regional airports at Cardiff and Bristol.
